Abstract(in English) | Recently, multimedia applications such as video and audio come into wide use. When heterogeneous traffic is accommodated in a network, Call Admission Control (CAC) will be required for maintaining quality of services. Because the values of various applications are not always proportional to the bandwidth, therefore, conventional CACs, which aim to increase resource utilization under the condition that users' satisfaction is proportional to their own bandwidth, have difficulties in maximizing user satisfaction. As stated above, we proposed a novel CAC strategy for maximizing total accommodated flows based on a new philosophy that heterogeneous flows should be treated equally in networks. And we presented a theoretical analysis of the model and numerical analysis that show the effectiveness of our CAC. To obtain an optimal threshold that makes total call-blocking rate minimise, we need a full search from all candidates of threshold. In this paper, we developed an approximation formula to obtain suboptimal threshold based on theoretical characteristic analysis, and presented that the approximation formula achieves a good performance. |
