Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) When we think about a business model using ubiquitous sensor networks, we face a number of uncertain conditions. The first is the market need. It is difficult to specify precisely who the users are and what they want from the sensor network applications. The second is the market size and business players. It is not clear if the conventional communication carriers would dominate the business or new players would emerge. The third is the amount of time and money investment required before generating a profit. Despite these uncertainties, we have been pursuing a study on a ubiquitous sensor network platform. In this lecture, I will talk about our vision of the business model based on our experience in the sensor network platform development.
