Abstract(in English) We report a free-space 512 x 512-port optical switching module using micro-electro mechanical systems (MEMS) mirror arrays and collimator arrays. This module has a W-layout optical configuration with a concave mirror arranged between the MEMS mirror arrays as a fourier transform element, which reduces the tilt angle of the MEMS mirror for switching. The 512-port MEMS mirror array and the fiber collimator array are integrated by four 128-port elements. This provides large I/O port count scalability with low cost. Results of an optical path connection test of a prototype switch module show the module's ability to work as a large-scale optical switch.
