Adaptive Control of EDC Using Dispersion Estimation Technique with 43Gbit/s Eye Monitoring LSI

Abstract(in English) We proposed and demonstrated simple estimation algorithm to estimate polarization mode dispersion and chromatic dispersion using 43Gbit/s eye-monitoring LSI. The experimental result using 43Gbit/s RZ-DPSK signal shows that the values of applied DGD (differential group delay) to the transmission line is well estimated by our proposed method and is correct within an error of about +/-2ps. We also reported experimental demonstration of adaptive control of electrical dispersion compensator (EDC) using this dispersion estimation technique by look-up table method. The tolerance is extended to over 18ps at 3dB Q penalty criterion.
