Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The subgap current in an SIS junction is reduced exponentially as the temperature decreases. However, the reduction is saturated below a given temperature. This phenomenon is a bottleneck to develop high sensitive SIS photon detectors. In order to investigate the origin of the subgap current, under various temperatures, we measured I-V properties of a Nb/Al-AIN/Nb junction that was manufactured at National Astronomical Observatory of Japan/Advanced Technology Center (NAOJ/ATC). Obtained I-V properties are then compared to two models: (1) quasi-particle lifetime broadening effect, and (2) single-particle+two-particle tunneling with quasi-particle lifetime broadening effect.
