Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This study proposes a set of data analytics methodologies by using consumer purchase behavior. We assume that consumer purchase behavior data is captured by using RFID system in retail stores. Since consumers' preferences are getting more and more diversified recently, it becomes insufficient to use Point-Of-Sales data, which is a post-purchase decision data, to improve sales of the retail store. In order to improve sales, to understand what consumers really want is essential; and to understand what consumers really want, retailers need to acquire data of how consumers select or not select a specific item, analyze why some items are selected and others are not, and utilize the analysis to improve their store operation, their product development, and their corporate strategy. In this study, we explore the existing RFID experiments, identify characteristics of RFID data that will be captured in the retail store, and come up with the methodologies that can extract values from the data.
