Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The bit error rate (BER) performance of broadband single-carrier (SC) signal transmissions in a severe frequency-selective channel significantly degrades due to a strong inter-symbol interference (ISI). In a previous paper, we proposed joint Tomlinson-Harashima precoding (THP)/frequency-domain pre-equalization (pre-FDE) that uses THP to subtract the residual ISI produced by (pre-FDE filter+channel), while pre-FDE is used to achieve frequency-diversity gain. Even though the joint THP/pre-FDE improves the BER performance assuming ideal channel estimation, its performance improvement is still limited by the residual ISI after FDE. In this report, to improve the BER performance more, we optimize the THP based on the MMSE criterion. Its BER performance improvement is evaluated by computer simulation.
