Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Very high-speed wireless packet access using hybrid ARQ (HARQ) will be a core technology of the next generation mobile communication systems. A robust channel equalization technique against a severe frequency-selective fading channel is needed to realize such a high-speed data transmission. It was shown that frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on the minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can take advantage of the channel frequency-selectivity and can provide high throughput performance for direct sequence (DS) code division multiple access (CDMA) and multi-carrier (MC) CDMA. However, the use of FDE requires the insertion of guard interval (GI) to avoid an inter-block interference (IBI). GI insertion reduces the throughput. Recently, overlap FDE which does not require the GI insertion has been proposed. In this paper, we evaluate and compare the throughput performances of single-carrier (SC) and MC transmissions using overlap FDE by computer simulation.
