Abstract(in English) This paper presents comparison on block error rate (BLER) performance of cyclic shift and block spreading-based multiplexing using codeword maximum likelihood detection (MLD) and joint MLD exploiting channel coding information in orthogonal CDMA for the Evolved UTRA uplink. We first present the BLER performance of cyclic shift and block spreading-based multiplexing using codeword MLD and joint MLD in GSM Typical Urban channel model and ITU-R Vehicular-A and Pedestrian-B channel models. Then, we compare the BLER performance between cyclic shift and block spreading-based multiplexing in exponentially decayed power delay profile models with delay spread value as a parameter. Simulation results elucidate although block spreading is superior to cyclic shift-based multiplexing due to lower required received SNR in small delay spread environments, cyclic shift-based multiplexing using joint MLD is more appropriate than block spreading-based multiplexing for supporting small-to-large delay spread environments.
