Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper studies the possible downsizing of the already developed point-converging ultrasonic sound source (20kHz) that uses a flexural vibrating circular plate. It proposes a method of downsizing the ultrasonic sound source by using two smaller vibrating plates than the current one. This sound source consists of the two circular vibration plates (one is smaller than the other), two circular flat reflecting plates, cylindrical reflectors and a paraboloid reflector of revolution. The sound source is characterized by its size, which is smaller than any other type of sound source due to its axial symmetry, and by its output of sound wave energy, which is boosted by increasing the radiation resistance of the vibrating plate through a combination with the circular reflecting plate. We first describe the principle of sound wave convergence of this sound source and presents the results of experimental studies on the characteristics of sound wave radiation of the two flexural vibrating circular plates used for the sound source. It also discusses the characteristics of sound wave convergence of the point-converging sound source that was experimentally fabricated.
