Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, a new wavelength multicasting capability into AWG-based WDM PON is introduced. The principle of wavelength multicasting is to deliver information simultaneously to many destinations by different wavelengths. Moreover, the interesting characteristic of this function is that multicasting signal will be delivered only to desired users. Therefore, it reduces the waste of fibre bandwidth which is not necessary to broadcast as star coupler does, and restricts the information transmission only to the trusted receivers. To facilitate this wavelength multicasting function, a wavelength selective multicaster (WSM) is introduced, and two possible architecture designs of the WSM are proposed. Through comparisons, the efficiency of the new wavelength multicasting is verified, and both advantages and shortages of two designs are pointed out.
