Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose MagicCup as an interface for controlling 3D virtual objects in a tabletop Augmented Reality. MagicCup uses a real cup as a control interface and is a type of wand in the 3D user interfaces. In most interaction methods, conventional wands perform "pointing" or "touching" operations. MagicCup can be used to perform "covering" operations also and thus differs from conventional wands. We compared the three interaction methods mentioned above and evaluated fundamental characteristics of MagicCup. The results revealed that there were the differences of fundamental characteristics by the difference of the interaction method.
