Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes the cell search method using the multiple Synchronization Channel (SCH) symbol timing candidates to reduce false detection of the cell ID in a cell search in the OFDM based Evolved UTRA downlink. In the proposed method, multiple SCH symbol timing candidates are preserved including the best candidate that provides the maximum correlation peak in the first step. Then, the best Secondary-SCH sequence is detected for the selected SCH symbol timing candidates. Simulation results show that the false detection probability of the SCH symbol timing using the proposed method after one-cycle of cell search operation is reduced by approximately 3% compared to that conventional method using a single SCH symbol timing candidate. The results also clarify that by using the proposed method, the cell search time at 95% in the cumulative distribution function can be reduced by approximately 10 msec compared to that conventional method. The cell search time of 30 msec is achieved at the detection probability of 95% within a cell.
