Frequency Utilization Efficiency Improvement by Cyclic FEC Decoding in Superposed Multicarrier Transmission

Abstract(in English) A multicarrier superposed transmission is one of the most effective wireless communication schemes to solve frequency resource shortfall and achieve higher frequency utilization efficiency. We have proposed FEC metric masking processing as an interference suppression scheme, in which FEC encoded packets are decoded after the metrics of interfered subcarriers are replaced to the most ambiguous values in the receiver. In this paper, we propose a new decoding scheme which can adopt to the system employing convolutional coding and Viterbi-decoder as a FEC encoder/decoder in order to allow cyclical decoding and to offer higher reception performance. In the proposed scheme, after the temporary decoding by using conventional FEC metric masking scheme at first time, the metric of subcarriers on superposed bandwidth are updated by newly calculated metric from replica bits, then the cyclical decoding is done for multiple times. By computer simulation we show that the proposed scheme is able to improve the BLER performance when convolutional coding with coding rate of 1/2 is utilized as FEC, only with a few cyclical decoding process, achieve higher tolerance against the spectrum superposition, and obtain higher frequency utilization efficiency.
