Abstract(in English) Multi-car elevator (MCE) systems consist of shafts having two or more independent cars operating in them. Due to their special characteristics, conventional control methods cannot be applied to them. Therefore, it is necessary to develop effective group control methods for MCE systems. In this paper we propose an MCE group control algorithm using schedule completion time optimization, a selective synchronization of the cars' schedule direction and service-oriented parking schemes. We compare our algorithm with the MceSim default group controller through simulations in different passenger traffic patterns. We confirm our algorithm excels the MceSim default group controller in the ordinary, special floor and down-peak traffic patterns. In the up-peak traffic pattern, we observe our algorithm shows a better result only under the arrival rate of 85 passengers/min. In addition, we analyze the increase in the synchronization of the moving direction of cars with respect to the passenger arrival rate. This synchronization is attributed to the implementation of the operation rules and the risk prevention conditions in the interference risk evaluation.
