Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Movements of the upper limbs are indispensable for daily activities. Upper rehabilitation is important for people who have a physical disorder, for example aged people or stroke patients who have hemplegia. In recent years, the need for rehabilitation support systems is increasing, which use robot technology and virtual reality technology. The system is able to not only provide supports to therapists but also contribute to repeatable training and quantitative evaluation. We have improved a rehabilitation robot "Robotherapst" for upper limbs including wrists to evaluate synergy pattern of stroke patients, and carried out the experiments for evaluating and measuring reaching movements. In addition, we have developed application software for reaching training with the experimental results.
