Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Decommissioning of Tokai nuclear power plant has begun in 2001. Radioactive wastes from decommissioned that plant is still stored in the site. In near future, those reactor decommissioning wastes will be transported by sea to low-level radioactive-waste site in Rokkasho village, Aomori prefecture. Although sea transportation of various radioactive materials has done in safety, reactor decommissioning wastes are characterized by high waste generation and wide variety. In this paper, the characteristics of reactor decommissioning wastes, the issue of sea transportation of those and the risk analysis for the sea transportation of radioactive materials.
