Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In a previous paper, an earplug type earphone by contact with an ultrasonic transducer was proposed. The earplug type earphone is composed of a versatile earplug and an ultrasonic transducer contacting a transmission rod, which transmits mechanical amplitude modulation ultrasonic vibrations (modified double side band; MDSB) to the earplug, and therefore can produce audible sound demodulated sound pressure directly in the small cavity enclosed by the earplug and one's eardrum. This paper has been experimentally discussed the relation between the acoustic characteristics of the earplug type earphone and adjusting the proper thickness and diameter of the vibration transmission rod for four kinds of materials (polyvinyl chloride, cork, chamaecyparis obtusa, and expanded poly styrene). From the results, in case of chamaecyparis obtusa 20mm thick, it can be found that, this earphone is obtained nearly flat frequency characteristics 75dB±2dB (SPL) in the range from 315Hz to 2kHz (an input voltage is 15V_).
