Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, research on applying Network Coding, one of innovative transmission protocols, in wireless multihop networks has attracted much attention. By using the Network Coding technology we can save network bandwidth as well as transmission power etc…, which leads to improvement in total network throughput. However, current work has only focused on Network Coding that mixes multiple digital bits at the network layer. This paper studies Physical Layer Network Coding technology which introduces the concept of coding multiple analog signal. By mixing multiple analog signals, this physical-layer network coding enables the simultaneous arrival of signals in wireless multihop networks, which potentially increases the throughput and decreases the number of transmissions. We use Matlab simulation to evaluate bit error rate and throughput characteristics of physical-layer network coding.
