Reflection and Transmission Coefficients of Multi-layer Structure

Abstract(in English) A three-step method was developed to obtain the formula to calculate complex transmission/reflection coefficients of a multi-layer structure. First, S-matrix is obtained at each boundary surface. Then, each layer is represented as an equivalent transmission line of which parameters are determined by the specific medium of the layer. Finally, the S-matrix of the entire multi-layer structure is obtained from the model of cascaded transmission lines that represent the multiple layers. Calculation was made for radome panels and radio wave absorbers as examples of such a multi-layer structure.
