Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Intermittent pure tone is perceived as if it were continuous when silent portion is replaced with white noise, that is known as illusory continuity. Illusory continuity has been examined for monaural or diotic stimuli. We reported that illusory continuity was also observed for binaural or dichotic stimuli with their interaural time difference controlled. In this paper, we investigated the pulsation threshold of illusory continuity for binaural hearing and its variation with regard to interaural level difference (ILD). As a result, the threshold depended on the difference of ILDs of noise and pure tone signals. It leads that sound lateralization will have an effect on illusory continuity for binaural hearing.
