Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The envisioned next generation wireless networks exhibit important and unique features that qualify them to be an integral part of a global ubiquitous information system, in which Quality of Service (QoS) and mobility functionalities go hand in hand since QoS is offered to a particular mobile station (MS) along a specific path that changes as a consequence of handoff. Thus, QoS state is no longer supported in the new path following the handoff scenario. Additionally, the unused QoS state on the former path affects the efficient use of the network resources. Thus, QoS and mobility management should be integrated to ensure the continuity of service levels perceived by mobile users while they perform handoffs between different access points (APs). One of the hot topics in wireless networks is to track the location of the MS that performs handoff and inform the appropriate AP about the service level specification (SLS) of the MS. The contemporary schemes to achieve this, such as SLS delivery on demand and SLS broadcast approaches, present significant long delay and scalability issues. In this research, we propose a secure and robust framework of SLS to inform the new AP, following the handoff of a MS, about the current service level of the MS. We have extended the encrypted SLS approach by introducing a mechanism to avoid the security issue while maintaining a low signaling overhead. We achieve this by adopting asymmetric encryption at the AP in a unique manner. The generation of the cryptographic key pairs for each AP is delegated to the QoS Global Server (QGS). Experimental results clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in contrast with the contemporary ones.
