Abstract(in English) | We propose an energy-efficient protocol for data collection in a large-scale wireless sensor network (WSN) named "Broadcast and Collect (B & C)". The B & C broadcasts predicted sensor information and collects the actual sensor data that largely differ from the prediction. The B & C collects sensor information fast with little communications traffic and low power consumption from a large quantity of wireless sensors. Additionally the B & C can respond to an environmental instantaneous locality change. In recent years, WSN that installed large quantities of wireless sensors to environment attracts attention as a situation grip method. A technique demanded in WSN is to collect information fast from a wireless sensor in little communications traffic and low power consumption. Some research has proposed to an energy-efficient method that collect sensor information. However, these methods have a problem that collecting sensor information speed decreases when there are many wireless sensors in the environment. The reason is the increase of communication traffic for collecting all sensor information to recognize the environment. The B & C method collects only different sensor information from predicted with past sensor information. We actually experiment with our proposed method using the wireless sensors that we implemented. The experimental result shows the B & C method can reduce communication traffic and power consumption when there are many wireless sensors in the environment. |
