Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Small-scale PC clusters which are composed of some tens of nodes do not have enough resources. Such small-scale PC clusters are often used in laboratories or research groups, and the applications are limited in general. All nodes need not to be closely connected in the application of scientific calculation, because necessary data for a particular node are limited. In the PC cluster of the distributed shared memory type, loosely connected memories make implementation cost lower. We pay attention to scientific calculation to develop the reconfigurable PC cluster. In this paper we propose the network switch for a PC cluster in which connection between nodes is reconfigurable according to a feature of a problem. The network switch is implemented by using FPGA. The PC cluster generates connecting route depending on each problem. And the switch connects a shred memory placed on each node.
