Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To realize user-centric and flexible wireless services, universal network platforms for heterogeneous wireless require improvements in radio frequency utilization, dead zone reduction, traffic dispersion in urban area, and universal service abilities in rural area with a low population. Microwave Photonics (MWP) technologies arisen from the combination of optical fiber & radio communication technologies are able to transparently transmit various types of radio services, and realize universal network platforms for wireless communications and broadcastings. This paper introduces some developed MWP technologies in the field of wireless communications and broadcastings. Then, our proposed software definable radio networks, where radio on fiber is a key technology, is described as a universal network platform for heterogeneous wireless services.
