Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we report the feasibility study results of 160-Gbit/s, polarization-division multiplexed (PDM) RZ-DQPSK transmission system over installed cables. We measured the state of polarization (SOP) change over the installed cables, and developed an automatic polarization control system to recover the PDM signals properly. We have confirmed that the 160-Gbit/s, PDM RZ-DQPSK transmission system can operate stably for more than five days by applying the automatic polarization control system.
