Abstract(in English) | In long-distance optical communication, optical amplifiers are used for compensation of fiber loss. However, the ASE noise from the optical amplifiers fluctuates the amplitude of signals, and the fluctuation is converted to the phase noise through the nonlinearity of the transmission fiber. Long distance-transmission performance of phase-shift-keyed signal is degraded by the nonlinear phase noise. In this report, we show that an all-optical amplitude limiter utilizing saturation of four wave mixing in a fiber can stabilize the amplitude of DQPSK signals and reduces the nonlinear phase noise. Also, we optimize pump power to enhance the effect of the limiter. |
