The role of social skills in persuasion (2) : An experimental study by using an audio-visual message

Abstract(in English) The purpose of this study was to examine how listeners' social skills (ACT, ENDE2, JICS) had effects on evaluating speakers' persuasiveness and facilitating their comprehension in an audio-visual persuasive situation. As a result, participants who had low decoding skill, low PA or low IS estimated the speakers' persuasiveness to be high and participants who had low ACT or low IS understood the message well. The importance of the role of social skills in one way communication style and a balance among the various skill dimensions were discussed.
