Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Dinning is important not only for taking nutrition but also plays an important role for human communication. Nevertheless, few research efforts have been made for analyzing table-talk in terms of human communication. In this paper we video recorded several table talk scenes among three participants and analyzed the feeding (handing tableware), gaze, facial expression and utterance behaviors. We have transcribed using 4-min 40-sec video data and analyzed the structure of table talk. From the analysis it was found that the participant in table talk senses and decides whether he/she will talk or eat. It was also found that participant accesses foods more frequently when he/she involves less with conversations. The analysis suggests that possible next speaker at turn-takings prepares to become a speaker in advance of turn, not at the very point of turn-taking. |
