Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This article argues assessment sequence in ordinary conversation can be regarded as temporal expansion of social referencing. An ssessment sequence includes two different kinds of relationships at the same time. One is an agreement-demanding relation, which is a kind of prospective sequence like adjacency pair. The other is a commentary relation, which seems to be a retro-sequence. An assessment sequence also includes both a triadic relation similar to joint attention between two participants and the target of assessment and expressive dimension of communication.
