Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper considers remote communication technique via talkers' avatars placed in the same virtual communication space for human interaction. Communication functions of avatar mediated interactions are investigated about avatars, environments, and input devices from the viewpoint of human interaction sharing. In addition, human interface design for smooth communication support is considered based on interaction analysis through the development of three type avatars; a human type avatar "VirtualActor", an abstract wave type avatar "VirtualWave", and a hand-motion-input avatar "PuppetAvatar", and the communication experiments using these avatars.
