Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The leakage loss of a hollow-core waveguide is analyzed using the perturbation method and the three-dimensional beam-propagation method (3D-BPM). First, the perturbation method is applied to a straight and a bent rectangular hollow waveguide. The minimum loss condition is derived for the relative index of the cladding. Next, the loss obtained from the perturbation method is compared with that from the 3D-BPM. Good agreement is found to exist between the perturbation method and the 3D-BPM for both E^x and E^y modes.
