Abstract(in English) The paper presents a MAC layer beamforming protocol following the guidelines of the IEEE802.15.3c criteria for 60GHz WPANs. for Millimeter-wave 60-GHz wireless personal area networks (60GHz WPANs). The proposed beamforming protocol, is based on a designed codebook, created with only 4 kinds of phase shift (0 90 180 270 degree) without amplitude changes in order to provide a high data rate and high performance with minimum power loss in 60GHz systems. The proposed codebook based beamforming protocol is also independent of antenna configuration, which can therefore support a multitude of antenna configurations such as single antenna element, sectored antennas, switched antennas, and 1-dimensional (1-D) and 2-dimensional (2-D) beamforming antenna arrays. The scheme provides a general beamforming operation procedure for high-rate data streaming in 60GHz WPAN systems.
