Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper we propose a convenient multipath delay estimation method for OFDM mobile radio. Based on the estimation method, we also propose two novel adaptive OFDM transmission schemes, i.e. OFDM transmission with adaptive guard interval (GI) length, and with adaptive transmission rate. The proposed estimation method gets the information about multipath delay spread as well as average bit error rate (BER) from the Q-ch detection output of a sub-carrier of OFDM signal, at the same time of information signal transmission without any other special signals. Using the information about delay spread and BER, the proposed adaptive OFDM transmission schemes adjust adaptively the GI of the OFDM symbol or modulation schemes respectively, achieving high transmission quality and efficiency at the same time. The computer simulation confirms the effectiveness of the proposed method and schemes.
