Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents the gain of time diversity on the achievable data rate of Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) signal considering frequency diversity through simultaneous transmissions from multiple cell sites associated with soft-combining reception, and transmit cyclic delay diversity (CDD) in the OFDM based Evolved UTRA downlink. We first clarify the achievable data rate at cell edge of MBMS signal satisfying the required block error rate (BLER) using 2-antenna CDD transmission and diversity reception. Then, we elucidate the gain of time diversity in addition to CDD transmission and diversity reception on the achievable data rate of MBMS. The simulation results show that time diversity with two to three transmissions is effective in improving the offered data rate at cell edge when the MBMS is provided to cells belonging to one cell site.
