Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In assessing a wideband small antenna, both input impedance and radiation efficiency are important evaluation indexes. However, the physical size of a coaxial cable attached to the antenna under test affects the impedance measurement results as well as the electromagnetic fields in the vicinity of the coaxial cable. To overcome this problem, scale-model measurements combined with S-parameter method were performed both to reduce the relative physical size of the coaxial cable and to assess the influence of the size of the coaxial cable. Also, a spherical field measurement over the entire solid angle of a sphere is a common method to determine the radiation efficiency of an antenna. In this paper, two possible error factors: 1) unmeasured region (of the radiated electric field from the antenna under test) caused by the nonmetallic vertical supporting pole (for AUT) attached to the azimuth rotator and 2) insufficient measurement distance between the scanning antenna and the antenna under test have been experimentally evaluated in order to assess the practical accuracy of the relative radiation efficiency measurement using radiation efficiency standards.
