Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Currently, in Internet environments several address spaces coexist, such as IPv4 private network address, IPv4 global network address, and IPv6 address. In these environments, it is difficult to transparently perform end-to-end communications between hosts that are placed on different address realms. To resolve those problems, we have been proposing a new architecture which we call Virtual IP layer (VIP). The VIP architecture applies label switching technology for transparent end-to-end communications between two hosts that belong to different address realms. Therefore, we have been proposing a new architecture which we call Virtual IP layer. The architecture introduces label switching technology. This paper describes the application of Virtual IP layer to IP multicast and mobility. This paper also introduces an implementation of the Virtual IP layer.
