Generalized Database Application for a Study of Web Services : A Result Report about a Prototype System

Abstract(in English) The improvement of software development efficiency has been pursued long time since the birth of software engineering in 1970s. The basic concept is to prepare software parts and to reuse them. Today, Web services or SaaS have been attracted considerable attentions in the same sense. Business used information systems are generally constructed by applying data oriented approach. Therefore we started the study to generalize business database operations. We recognize that we can generalize database operations at the upper level than SQL levels but the database operations relating business logics are difficult to generalize. We study about granularity and precision. As a method to study, we constructed a prototype system for handling a small scale inventory management system. We also study about the granularity of business logic software and recognize it should be correspond to business process granularity.
