Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We will talk about a recommender system, especially the algorithms and design options adopted for implementing the system. A recommender system estimates the items preferred by users and then suggests them to the users. The emergent of a recommender system is caused by the problem of information overload. The term "information overload" denotes the situation that one can conceive the existence of the target information, but he/she cannot find out the information because these are hidden by the overwhelming amount of irrelevant information. As one of options to solve this problem, recommender systems ware designed to find out information that is relevant to users' need. Many methods have been developed to meet the wide variety of users' information needs. We will overview these methods.
