Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | This study investigates the effects of scrambling, case, and reversibility on the comprehension of Japanese simple sentences. An experiment using a self-paced listening task observed the effect of scrambling which is attributed to filler-gap dependency, and the effect of reversibility which reflects the cost of general difficulty in identifying the participants' roles in the event described by a sentence. There are different types of costs in processing between scrambled and reversible sentences. |
