Narrowband interference characteristics of high-speed power line communication based on Wavelet-OFDM

Abstract(in English) Although high-speed PLC is beginning to spread in recent years, high-speed PLC has the problem of leakage electric field and electric wave interference against radio broadcast, amateur radio and so on. This problem can decrease by inserting a notch in frequency to be related to influence of the interference. Wavelet-OFDM that is already put to practical use can insert a notch which is deeper than the conventional OFDM based on FFT. In this paper, we examined the narrowband interference characteristics, by measuring PHY rate (physical layer date rate) of PLC system using a high-speed PLC modem, which actually used Wavelet-OFDM while impressing the narrowband interference wave on a power line model. As a result, it is confirmed that Wavelet-OFDM had a superior the narrowband interference wave immunity characteristic because PHY rate hardly decreased in C/I of more than -20dB. In addition, we examined the improvement effect of the immunity characteristic when impressing the narrowband interference wave on the frequency band with the notch. As a result, a decrease of PHY rate when impressing the narrowband interference wave to the frequency with the notch was suppressed slightly compared with that when impressing the narrowband interference wave to the frequency without the notch. Therefore, the immunity characteristic was improved just a little and it is confirmed that there was an improvement effect by the existence of the notch.
