Application of TMUX for the Next Generation Mobile Communication : A generalization from OFDM and OFCDM

Abstract(in English) Various signal transmission methods based on OFDM are proposed for the next generation mobile communication networks. A combination of CDMA and OFDM called OFCDM is also proposed. In mobile communications, the signal transmission must be made through multi-path radio links and under heavy interferences conditions among adjacent sectors and cells. The signals from multiple sources superpose themselves in such interferences conditions hence the detection of the guard interval (GI) timing will become difficult. Another shortcoming with OFDM is that it does not allow FDMA operation because all the channels are used as a whole. In this paper an alternative signal transmission method based on Trans-Multiplexer (TMUX) is proposed. The proposed system allows a full FDMA operation. Furthermore a CDMA scheme called FDM-CDMA is proposed. The FDM-CDMA conducts a direct frequency spreading in frequency axis and not in time axis but can achieve the features of the conventional CDMA. For example adjacent cells and sectors can share the same frequency bands and the mobile hand-over controls are quite simplified compared with TDMA or FDMA systems.
