Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Mobile satellite communication systems using Ku-band have started providing broad band services recently. For this purpose, various kinds of small size antenna have been developed. Ku-band is allocated on a primary basis to the fixed satellite service. When it is used for mobile satellite communication, the antenna systems need to be designed not to cause harmful interference to the adjacent satellites and other terrestrial systems such as Radio-Astronomy, Fixed Service, and Radio Research Service. In addition, the antenna needs to have the function of tracking linear polarization to cope with linear polarization operation. This paper describes market trend of mobile satellite communication services and technical requirements to be met. And various kinds of antenna which have been developed for this purpose are introduced.
