Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, VPN technology is used to improve secure capability in Internet remote access and end users. In enterprise networks, however, firewalls are sometimes placed at each section for access control. Therefore, the use of a proxy server is attractive to avoid access filtering at firewalls. Although a Firewall Traversal function is playing an important role, existing implementation technique lacks scalability because the Firewall Traversal server has to handle a large amount of TCP/SSL protocol processing to establish secure channel. We propose a new Firewall Traversal implementation technique by introducing and effecting TCP splicing technique. In this paper, we show the model of performance of a previous Fiewall Traversal method and a proposed method. We have developed a prototype system for evaluating the models and confirming that throughput is 40 times as much as existing method.
