Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To expand the application areas of lithium-ion batteries as backup power sources in telecommunications power systems, a large lithium-ion cell with a rated capacity of 200Ah has been developed. Moreover, a new battery management system for lithium-ion batteries that uses individual chargers for each single cell is proposed as a replacement for the conventional management system that requires a cell-voltage-equalizing circuit to be connected to each cell in parallel. A-48-V DC power supply system, composed of 12 series-connected 200Ah cells with the proposed battery management system, was constructed, and the fundamental characteristics were investigated. This paper describes the characteristics of this system and of the 200-Ah lithium-ion cell.
