Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Most of conventional photonic crystal slab waveguides have photonic band gap (PBG) for only one polarization. In this paper, we study on absolute PBG that can realize PBG for both polarization in the same frequency range and demonstrate that absolute PBG can be realized using some photonic crystal structures. In the numerical analysis, we employ the 2D finite element method based on the effective index method. Furthermore, we construct photonic crystal waveguides using the obtained photonic crystal structure with absolute PBG and study on its dispersion relations and propagation properties through waveguide bends.
