Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, Dual-Energy (DE) method has been getting taken an important concept in X-ray CT (Computed Tomography), because it has potentials for tissue characterization and for providing quantitatively accurate CT value. DE method approximates the energy-dependent linear attenuation coefficient by a linear combination of two basis functions. Traditionally, the energy-dependent function of Compton scatter and photoelectric effect have been used as basis functions from view point of physics. However, optimality of these two components have not been considered. In this paper we propose a DE method using PCA (Principal Component Analysis) to examine optimality of these basis functions, and show image reconstruction ability and tissue characterization ability.
