Optical Characteristics of Superstructure Silica Thin Films on LiNbO_3 Substrates

Abstract(in English) Luminescence of visible light by UV irradiation was observed in artificial-lattice thin films of ion doped silica glass (silica superstructure thin films). The film was composed by periodic nanometer layers of germanium doped silica (Ge:SiO_2), titanium doped silica (Ti:SiO_2) and tin doped silica (Sn:SiO_2).. In spite of thin film of a few microns, relatively bright luminescence of white light was observed. Light amplification at 405nm was obtained in the superstructure films prepared on silica-glass and silicon substrate by UV irradiation.
