Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Distributed video coding (DVC) is a new video coding paradigm based on the Slepian-Wolf and Wyner-Ziv theorems. It encodes frames independently and decodes them jointly. This architecture is suited for applications such as mobile camera phones, robust video transmission and multi view video coding. In this paper, we propose an intra/inter frame mode decision scheme in wavelet domain distributed video coding. In our scheme, the mode decision is successively performed by using not only the past or future key frames but also using the decoded lower subband of the current Wyner-Ziv frame. The results indicate that the proposed method yields higher R-D performance over the conventional wavelet domain distributed video coder.
