Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Generally, widely used area-based matching schemes are applied to images after panoramic extension for omnidirectional stereo. By such schemes, the accuracy of stereo matching may be degraded because of pixel interpolation required for panoramic extension. Moreover computational amount is increased by it. To enhance the accuracy of stereo matching and to reduce computational cost, we propose a novel matching scheme suitable for omnidirectional stereo which uses boundary information as matching cue and does not require panoramic extension. Experimental results with 3D CG show that the proposed scheme can achieve more accurate matching but require much less time for computation than an existing scheme which requires panoramic extension.
